Mongolia -> ULAANBAATAR -> Zaisan Memorial
Zaisan Memorial
ULAANBAATAR, Ulaanbaatar Capital District
The Zaisan Memorial is a tall, thin landmark atop a hill south of the city. This memorial was built by the Russians to commemorate 'unknown soldiers and heroes' from the various wars of Mongolia's past. A circular painting depicts scenes of friendship between Mongolia and the Soviet Union. After climbing the 300 steps to the top, you are rewarded with a panoramic view of Ulaanbaatar and its surroundings, including the Tuul River.
