National Museum of Mongolian History    ULAANBAATAR, Ulaanbaatar Capital District

The National Museum of Mongolian History, formerly called the Revolutionary Museum, has an impressive collection of ethnic costumes from Mongolia's minority population. Another example of Mongolian culture, the 3rd floor has a furnished model ger, traditional farming and domestic tools, musical instruments, and saddles. There is a substantial collection of Mongol artifacts including 12th century Mongol armour and letters between the Mongolian Emperor and Pope Innocent IV in 1246. Along with other Buddhist items, the controversial Ganlin Horn made of human thighbones, is displayed.
