Mongolia -> ULAANBAATAR -> Museum of Natural History
Museum of Natural History
ULAANBAATAR, Ulaanbaatar Capital District
The Museum of Natural History, sometimes called the State Central Museum, features exhibits on Mongolia's geography, animals and reptiles, flora and fauna, and geology. The Paleontology Hall has an impressive collection of complete dinosaur skeletons, massive leg bones, dinosaur eggs, and petrified wood. Here you can see a complete skeleton of a three-meter tall, five-ton, flesh-eating tarbosaurus. Continue on to the world-famous "fighting dinosaurs," a velociraptor and protocerotops that were buried alive in the midst of a battle to the death, about 80 million years ago. Browse the camel museum on the 2nd floor.
