Bayanzag    Dalanzadgad, Omnogov Aymag

Bayanzag's name literally means 'rich in saxaul shrubs'. These small tree-like shrubs are one of the things this area is known for; the other is dinosaur bones. Both litter the area making Bayanzag recognized worldwide as the Dinosaur Cemetery. The area was first excavated in 1922 by paleontologist Roy Chapman Andrews who penned Bayanzag's more common name, the "Flaming Cliffs". Most of these bones are in the Museum of Natural History in Ulaanbaatar or museums around the world.
