Yolyn Am
Dalanzadgad, Omnogov Aymag
Yolyn Am is another famous sight within the Gurvan Saikhan National Park due to its unusual scenery. The area was originally started to protect the avian population but became popular because of it being a valley in the middle of the Gobi Desert, with year round meters-thick ice. There is a pleasant 2km walk along the stream that leads to an ice-filled gorge. Depending on the season, these icy areas can be difficult for tourists. If you are lucky, you may be able to spot the indigenous vulture-like lammergeyer, as well as the Altay snow cock, ibex, and yak.
